Passport & ID Photos

Biometrically compatible passport photos: 

If you're travelling you need up-to-date photos for passports, visas and international driver’s licenses. Our New Zealand passport photos are guaranteed to satisfy the strict new NZ Immigration Department criteria. We also take passport photos for other nationalities - please bring in the guidelines if other than USA, Canada, or Australia.

APPOINTMENTS

Not required. Just come into the store and we will take your photo as soon as possible, usually in under 5 minutes.

GETTING THE PHOTOS

In most cases they are ready in about 10 minutes.

HOW MANY PHOTOS

You will receive 4-8 color photos that are identical in size (number of photos on the 6x4" sheet depends on size of passport photo (e.g. 8 for NZ but only 4 for USA))

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR

It is strongly recommended that you do NOT wear a white blouse, shirt, or jacket as your clothing will blend into the background. Exception - if your photo requires a blue background then wear any colour except blue.

OTHER PHOTOS

We can take photos for almost every other identification requirement. For example: visas, foreign citizenship, gun license, I.D., educational applications, etc. However, you MUST bring along the application forms as photo sizes and other requirements are not all the same.

SMALL CHILDREN

We can only take passport pictures of children who can sit up (with a little assistance) and hold up their own heads. If your child meets those minimal requirements, we'll be happy to try photographing him or her.

BABIES

Despite the difficulty in getting babies to oblige, the NZ Immigration Department insists photos of babies must satisfy their new strict criteria such as mouth closed. If your baby can't sit upright and hold it's own head up we will need to take the baby out to our photo studio and lie the baby on the floor - a studio sitting fee of $50 will apply. What we prefer is that you take a photo of your baby at home when the baby is content - lying on a smooth white/pale blue cloth (no folds, no texture such as towels). Turn the flash off to avoid red eye and shadows and hold the camera very still. We will make sure the photo satisfies the criteria before dropping your photo into our template and printing for $5 per sheet.

FACIAL EXPRESSION

Open-mouthed smiles showing your teeth are not allowed for passport photos. The face must have a relaxed, neutral expression with the mouth closed.

GLASSES

We strongly suggest that glasses not be worn when the photo is taken, because glare, no matter how small, can cause rejection.

REJECTED PHOTOS

If we have taken the photo, chances are that it will not be rejected, as we make sure that they meet application standards. If they are rejected we will retake them at no charge.
