  • We can combine with movie files from your still camera or video camera.
  • The completed DVD will contain one movie file and will play in any DVD player, whether it is jpeg compatible or not.
  • You will not be able to make prints from the photos on this DVD.

DVD-Video versus Data-DVD

Many customers ask us to save their images to a DVD as they assume any DVD will play on any DVD player.
However, to play on a DVD player files must be in a format recognised by the DVD player (VOB files). Depending on how we burn files to a DVD we will create one of the two following types:

Data-DVD (DVD-ROM)

  • DVD-ROM is a data storage format just like CD-ROM - files are exact copies of those captured by your camera (usually jpeg).
  • This is the format we use to save photos to DVD on our kiosks and PCs - photos are safer here than on a USB drive as they cannot be erased.
  • DVD-ROMs play in any computer with a DVD drive
  • Some (not all) DVD player models can display jpeg photo files from CD or DVDs - check your operating manual

DVD-VIDEO

  • DVD-Video is principally a video and audio format used for movies.
  • The video file is a VOB format.
  • We need to use movie-making software to turn photos into a video slideshow .
  • DVD-Video plays an all DVD players attaChed to a TV as well as on PCs with DVD-players( and movie software)
  • All DVD players attached to your TV will play a DVD-Video
