" I took it out of the box and had it working within a couple of minutes. A customer had just passed on the difficult task of scanning 120 GLOSSY photos stuck in a clingmount album so I decided this was a great opportunity to test the scanner. For non-removable photos I normally use a camera with macro and a special tripod which takes a while to set-up and which works well with matte photos but not reflective glossy photos. The Flip-Pal did a great job with the glossy photos - the first photo was disappointing as the sun got through the scanner - but this was easily fixed by covering the scanner after positioning it and before pressing the green button. I could have moved to a different room but why do that if you don't have to?
Then I tried a recently completed  jigsaw puzzle - it needed 25 separate scans but the easy-stitch software did a great job of "piecing" it together!
