We can only scan loose prints so they must be removed from albums.
Quality: Photos for batch scanning orders must not be torn or bent. Make certain there is no hanging tape or sticky substance on the photographs. Remove all staples, paper clips etc., as these will damage the high-speed scanner.
Size: photos must be no smaller than wallet size (3”x4”) or larger than 8" x 12.
Thickness: Photographs must be un-mounted (not on any thick backing). Unfortunately Polaroid Instant Prints will not scan - these images may be custom scanned at $5 each.
Sorting your photos by size: Sort your prints by grouping similar sizes together, face up (group old contact prints together) (group postcard sized photos together) (group enlargements up to A4 together). We will scan the contact prints at 600 dpi for no extra charge so they will print as 6x4" prints with no loss in quality. We will not accept mixtures of photo sizes for the bulk scanning service - these will be charged at the manual price of $5 each. Any photo too small to be detected by the scanner will be manually scanned at $5 ea.
Higher resolution: With the exception of the contact prints all prints are scanned at 300 dpi. If you want a higher quality scan (600dpi) then the price will double.
Numbering photographs: for double the scan price we can renumber each image to match any pre-numbering done by you on the back of your photos (with a soft-lead pencil on old photos or CD pen on resin coated papers). This is recommended if you want your photos numbered to match a preset order before you sorted them by size. Alternatively you can rename the files yourself.
Organising by creating folders - all photos are saved together but for a surcharge per folder we can create separate folders for your photos when supplied in named groups (due to this slowing the scanning process down). Alternative suggestion... insert a card with descriptive text in front of each group of photos and we will scan that along with your photos.
Two Sided Scanning: Some of your photographs may have handwriting on the back that you also want scanned. Group these together and identify them as ‘scan both sides’. The second side will count as an additional scan.
Documents: You can also have documents such as certificates, diplomas, title deeds and other memorabilia scanned. Cost is same as bulk photos listed above.
Copyright: By law we are unable to scan copyrighted images, UNLESS you have a written copyright release from the copyright holder, which is generally the photographer.
